Wedding location – 8 tips on how to choose it!

Find the perfect wedding location!

You are engaged, and now? So much to do and to decide. One of the main decisions is to choose which will be your wedding location. I mean the eating and party part of your wedding. The ceremony location is a whole other topic, although it is possible to join both in the same location. But how to choose that perfect location?

Choosing a wedding location can be overwhelming and very demanding. Therefore I made this list with some of the most important tips. Follow them! As a result you will have the journey to find the perfect location much eased!

1. How many guests?

Make a list with all the guests you are going to invite. You will need to know how many they are. Some venues can accommodate only small weddings, while others are too big and, depending on how many guests you have, the room might seem empty.

2. Do you need accommodation?

Do you prefer a location with some rooms for you and for some guests, or doesn’t it actually matter?

3. It is important to be near the ceremony place?

If the ceremony takes place somewhere else (for example in a church) it is important to take into account how much time will you and your guests take from the ceremony location to the party location.

4. Until when do you want the party to go on?

Many locations have time limits. Make sure you consider if it is important for you to have an until-sunrise-party or know if the time limit the location has is perfectly ok for you.

5. Indoor or outdoor?

What is your preference? Which time of the year are you marrying. Generally a winter wedding is preferable to be indoor. If you are marrying in the spring of summer you might consider an outdoor wedding.

6. What exactly is included on the price?

I am talking about tables, chairs, chillout area, centerpieces, other decorations, staff, food and beverage, dj, projector, lights, photo booth and so on. Different locations offer different extras. Make sure you consider that when comparing prices between locations.

7. What about taxes?

Don’t forget to check if taxes are included on the price. If that is not the case it is certainly a good idea to budget for it.

8. The last and best tip!

The most helpful tip: do an excel sheet to compare venues and be sure you include budgets to all missing services. As a result you will compare apples to apples and pears to pears.

I hope this 8 tips help you to choose a wedding location with as less stress as possible. In the end you should enjoy not only the wedding day itself but also the preparations!
